What Becomes Of Me?

Written by AD Ibrahim

what becomes of me when you leave
but you are gone
you have left before the first rays

what becomes of me when you leave
you bade the sun farewell
i will wait tonight counting the stars
with your name in my mouth
composing a poem for you

what becomes of me when you leave
i have made my mouth taleful
telling anecdote of you and me
what becomes of me when you leave
but you have left with your love
and a lonely wolf i am

what becomes of me when you leave
i am alone
and my lips murmur only your name
with me is a song of you to the world
maybe, just maybe the Gods
will send you back to me

what becomes of me when you leave
who will laugh and cuddle me under the tree
what becomes of me when you leave
after months of longing & thought
my fragile heart is now a den
a dried pond of sorrow

what becomes of me when you leave
only a picture of you imprinted in my memory
i shall hold on to the rope of love
of which you and me share
under the Moringa tree
