The Moon Is My Lover – A Poem Written by Anil Kumar Panda

The Moon Is My Lover

Written by Anil Kumar Panda

The moon peeps through the cloud
As if it is my ardent lover
I lie on the sands and watch the sky
It descends on the river

It slips in to my room through the
Skylight in the night hours
When I sit on the balcony it smiles
Through the bed of flowers

It follows me when I go and keep
Me under its mystic spell
It touches my heart with its beauty
And in pride it would swell

I don’t know how to get rid of it
In this slipping old age
As I ink down this poem it smiles
Perched on the leafy hedge
