My Dad

by Ronnie tucker

My Dad
Memories how they fade so fast
As we get older they come and go
only in dreams can we go back
In waking hours they linger on
a look back to some time that will never be
Through the good years and the bad
From the happy and the sad
Sometimes we lose them only to return
in rush’s of a distant recess we hold inside ourselves
and in a moment they are gone
Sometimes its better to burn out than to grow old
As life passes by to die young then to feel the ages of life’s pain
like a candle that’s burns to its end
Leaving in the wake of ones who are left behind
a time for Angel’s to take them to some other place
while the living trod on in their wake
The one who are left behind to contemplate their own fate
What do you dream my dear friend or do dream anymore when you knocked at heavens door
I hoped you got in
And are you holding a place for me
I am stuck here with the living
To always ponder what’s left for me
Without a smile without a heart
I bleed evermore waiting for my knock at heavens door
will I get in I don’t know until my time comes to return to dust
Will I be welcomed with opened arms
will I get a halo and wings
Will a choir of Angel’s sing for me
Or will I be a memory that slowly fades
Here’s to you my friend who was once my dad
In life I don’t remember I do love you dad
