Billet-doux – A Poem Written by Debabrata Mohanty

Written by Debabrata Mohanty

A billet doux written
A thing of the past
Words inked in red
Time moved so fast…

It looked like Adonis
Spoke about his passion
To his beloved Venus
Of love’s emotion…

He made a strong promise
To deliver the moon
Imagination soared high
To grab it so soon…

Like the Titan, Prometheus
He was to steal fire
He flew in his winged chariot
By playing with his lyre…

Though the stars were far away
Beyond the eyes could see
He was determined to pluck them
To keep his love in glee.. .

He finished the letter
But thought of calling it quits
Thanked a storm that blew it away
Keeping him off his quirks and twists…
